Cold Case: Cindy Gerdes

By Caroline Lowe, WCCO-TV

(WCCO) -- Cindy Gerdes' unsolved killing in March 1984 was the one of the most horrific crimes I covered as a reporter. Cindy was a 28-year-old interior designer living near Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis when she was viciously stabbed and her body left in a pose to shock whoever found her.

No one has been arrested for her murder but a convicted killer remains a prime suspect.

Patrick Walsh brutally murdered another young woman, Pamela Sweeney, in 1991, and was married to a former roommate of Cindy's.

A friend has collected $20,000 which he hopes may help police get a break or information they need to finally get charges in Cindy's case. Anyone with information should call Minneapolis Police at 612-673-2941.
