cell phone while driving Klobuchar Wants To Ban Texting While Driving

U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar is pressing legislation to improve driving safety especially among teenagers.

Klobuchar is holding a driving safety summit Tuesday in Oakedale with teenagers taking part.   She’s calling for legislation that would make it illegal to either text or talk on a handheld cell phone while driving.  Klobuchar’s proposals would withhold some federal hiway funds for states that do not act a law prohibiting texting while driving.   The summit is being held at Tartan High School in Oakdale

I understand that teenagers and cell phones talking or texting is dangerous, but all drivers that are talking on the phone or texting, are not paying attention to what they are doing when behind the wheel. I once was next to a woman who was smoking a cigarette with one hand and talking on the phone with the other, and steering with her knees. I was able to get ahead of her.
I have come across drivers who are wandering between the lines, and driving very slowly, when I passed them they were on the phone, I don’t know if they were aware of what they were doing.
I am one of those people who rarely has her cell phone on her, and don’t see a need to have with me 24/7. I feel that all drivers, no matter the age, should not be driving and texting or talking on the phone.
