Man Found Guilty of Beating Boy Who Sought Refuge in Oven
William Hurley beat and burned 10-year old boy in South Minneapolis
A 23-year old man has been found guilty of beating and burning a boy. William Hurley was convicted by a Hennepin County Judge Tuesday of malicious punishment of a child, a felony. The 10-year old Minneapolis boy was beaten so badly by Hurley that at one point he tried to hide in the oven. The boy’s mother then allegedly turned the oven on to get him out. The mother, Debra Chatman, is also charged in the November incident, which occurred in South Minneapolis. Hurley faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced in July.
