William Hurley beat and burned 10-year old boy in South Minneapolis

A 23-year old man has been found guilty of beating and burning a boy. William Hurley was convicted by a Hennepin County Judge Tuesday of malicious punishment of a child, a felony. The 10-year old Minneapolis boy was beaten so badly by Hurley that at one point he tried to hide in the oven. The boy’s mother then allegedly turned the oven on to get him out. The mother, Debra Chatman, is also charged in the November incident, which occurred in South Minneapolis. Hurley faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced in July.

Imagine the hell the child was living in, where not only his mother’s boyfriend but his own mother would do this to him. Think of how small and helpless he must have been at the age of ten to fit inside an oven. There is an entire world of people out there who would have and could have given this child the love he deserved. Instead, the fates saw fit to throw him to the wolves.
