The union representing Twin Cities nurses is willing to resume talks with a one-day strike deadline just days away but talks are not likely. There’s no indication a federal mediator will call for resumption of negotiations. Some 12 thousand nurses plan to walk off the job for one day next Thursday forcing 14 hospitals to hire replacements. A hospital spokeswoman says the union’s staffing proposal would cost the industry an additional 250 million dollars a year. Talks broke off last Friday with no indication of any progress.
