Tornado Death Toll Now at Three

The death toll from Thursday’s storms in Minnesota now stands at three. The victims include an elderly woman killed in Otter Tail County and a gas station owner who died when a tornado struck his business in Polk County. And in southern Minnesota, officials report a fatality in Freeborn County but the victim has not been identified. Dozens of homes have been destroyed or damaged in the series of twisters in both northwestern and southern Minnesota. Governor Pawlenty and his emergency management director will visit Wadena and Albert Lea later this morning, after hosting his weekly radio show on WCCO.

    Hi:
I want to say this almost for fun, but because all my relatives in & around Fargo, Moorhead & Detroit Lakes GET SO FRUSTRATED when they’re referred to as being in NORTHWESTERN Minnesota I’m sure that the folks in & around Wadena feel even more frustrated. They consider it WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA!! Wadena is DEFINITELY
    not north.

Bruce, you especially know how strongly those Norwegians feel about things.

    Sincerely,
    Susan
    Minneapolis
