Four Minnesota natives were picked in the first round of the NHL draft. Duluth defenseman Derek Forbort was the 15th overall selection on Friday night, by the Los Angeles Kings. Blaine center Nick Bjugstad  was the 19th overall pick, by the Florida Panthers. Then Burnsville defenseman Jarred Tinordi went with the 22nd overall selection to the Montreal Canadiens and Warroad center Brock Nelson finished the first round as the 30th overall pick by the New York Islanders.

    I am SOO glad that Nick bjugstad got drafted! I’ve gone to school with him for a couple of years and he is just awesome! He worked hard for it and it totally paid off, we miss him at Blaine High School, but we’re hoping he’ll do great in the NHL!! (:
