Union nurses and 14 Twin Cities hospitals resume negotiations Tuesday afternoon. The nurses are threatening to walk off the job a week later. A key issue for the union is staffing levels. One nurse who walked the picket line back in 1984 says she’d do it again. The big issue back then was seniority.
That strike lasted 38 days. In the settlement, the nurses got seniority but the hospitals got something they needed – staff reductions.
