A new plan for combatting gun violence is being launched in Minneapolis. The mayor, the U-S Attorney and the Hennepin County Attorney are holding a news conference this morning to unveil the initiative. Mayor R.T. Rybak says the goal is to prosecute more gun cases as the federal level, where violent offenders would face more serious consequences for their crimes. Figures show that many forms of serious crime have dropped in Minneapolis. But there’s been nearly 30 killings so far in 2010.
