mining Duluth Mining Company Goes International

A Minnesota company is stepping onto the international stage in a partnership worth well over $100 million.

Ely based Duluth Metals has partnered with a mining company in Chile to form Twin Metals, a new company that will study the mining of copper nickel alloy in northeastern Minnesota.

Critics are concerned about polluted rivers flowing into the nearby Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Nickel copper is widely used in the making of coins.
