Police: Parents Left Infant in Sweltering Car 6-week old left in car Tuesday, when heat index was more than 100

Child neglect charges could be filed against a couple who police say left a 6-week old infant alone in a car in Tuesday’s sweltering heat. Authorities say several witnesses called police after noticing the baby inside the car, crying and sweating profusely. Minneapolis police were able to rescue the child and get the baby to a hospital.  Palmer says the baby’s parents were inside a pharmacy when police were called. They were booked in the Hennepin County jail. The baby is in foster care.

On the radio this morning your reporter said the incident occurred at a drugstore on Central Avenue North. Wrong! Central Avenue is in Northeast Minneapolis.
