slowey 972444791 Bid for Slo No Ends After 7th

Twins starter Kevin Slowey pulled Sunday after 7 no-hit innings.

A pitching change at Sunday’s Twins game caused quite a stir. Manager Ron Gardenhire pulled starting pitcher Kevin Slowey after 7 innings in which Slowey failed to give up a hit. Slowey missed his last start because of a sore elbow, and Gardenhire and the Twins staff were airing on the side of caution. Jon Rauch started the 8th inning, and promptly gave up a hit and then a run. The Twins did win the game 4-2 and completed the sweep of the Oakland A’s, thanks to a three run blast from Jim Thome. The Twins are now three games ahead of the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. The White Sox are in town for a three game series at Target Field beginning Tuesday night.
