Do you pronounce Nevada with a short “a”, or a long “a”?  Do you know which is technically correct?

Guy Clifton of the Reno Gazette-Journal joined John (in for Michele) to talk about proposed legislation in Nevada to address the subject.

  1. Carmen says:

Hey John, I was listening to your discussion regarding the “Nevada” pronunciation. It’s either been a while since your freshman HS Spanish class or you didn’t have a native speaker for a teacher. The “e” in Spanish is pronounced “ay” only when spoken by someone with a really bad American accent. The Spanish “e” is properly pronounced more like the “e” in Nevada (either pronunciation!)
