Ten years in prison. That was the sentence imposed today on Joel Pourier, who admitted to embezzling more than 1 million dollars from a Minneapolis charter school. Pourier admitted he took the money from the Heart of the Earth Charter School where he served as executive director. The school, which served American Indian children, closed two years ago because of the theft.
Pourier pleaded guilty to eight counts of felony theft by swindle and could have been ordered to serve a minimum of four years in prison.
