School has just begun but officials in Minneapolis today are already appealing to dropouts to come back. Mayor R.T. Rybak, Superintendant Bernardeia Johnson and Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman hold a news conference this afternoon to raise awareness of the dropout crisis and education gap in Minneapolis. The door-knocking campaign known as “We Want You Back” seeks to re-enroll 200 students. Attending today’s news conference will be a student who returned to school and is just one exam away from receiving his diploma.
