Luring Dropouts Back to Class
School has just begun but officials in Minneapolis today are already appealing to dropouts to come back. Mayor R.T. Rybak, Superintendant Bernardeia Johnson and Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman hold a news conference this afternoon to raise awareness of the dropout crisis and education gap in Minneapolis. The door-knocking campaign known as “We Want You Back” seeks to re-enroll 200 students.
Attending today’s news conference will be a student who returned to school and is just one exam away from receiving his diploma.
