A portion of University Avenue in St. Paul was shut down for two hours late Saturday afternoon after police received a report of some suspicious packages in a bus shelter. The bomb squad was dispatched and removed three packages, one of which they say did contain several suspicious items. They’re analyzing it to determine whether or not it contained actual explosives.
And, Mall of America officials say a K9 unit on regular patrol came across a suspicious substance near the Rainforest Café Saturday. Police moved shoppers out of the area as a precaution. Bloomington police say this type of thing happens quite often at the mall and they don’t think there was any connection to Saturday being the 9th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks.
