Has the flu season already begun – or is it just an influenza fluke? Three cases of influenza have been reported at a nursing home in the Twin Cities. But state health officials aren’t sure whether that means the flu season is underway. They say, in a normal summer, a few cases turn up at nursing homes but the season doesn’t begin until mid to late fall. However, as a precaution, health officials recommend getting your flu shot early. This year’s vaccine includes protection against both seasonal and H1N1 influenza. The nursing home where the three cases recently turned up has not been identified.
