Clinton: Committed To Securing Hikers' Release
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today repeated her commitment to securing the release of two Americans being held in Iran, including Minnesota native Shane Bauer.
Clinton says she spoke with Bauer’s mother, Cindy Hickey of Pine City, and Josh Fattal’s mother yesterday and told them she’s committed to bringing their sons home. They remain in a prison in Tehran where they’re accused of espionage. Bauer’s fiance’ Sarah Shourd was released on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Oman’s foreign minister says he’s not aware of any current plans for Iran to release two other Americans still being held there but that his country is willing to act as an intermediary between Tehran and Washington. Oman played a key role in helping secure the release of Shourd.
