A Minnesota native was among nine Americans killed in the crash of a helicopter in Afghanistan earlier this week. It was the worst coalition helicopter crash in the region in four years.
Among the victims: 26-year-old Chief Warrant Officer Jonah McClennan, who was from St. Louis Park but was raised in Clark County, Washington. His father says his son was a Blackhawk helicopter pilot for the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, but it’s not clear if he was piloting the chopper when it went down. It’s not known what caused the crash, but the Taliban is claiming responsibility.
