Flooding Closes Freeway

road closed sign Flooding Closes Freeway

MNDOT closed Interstate 35 south of Owatonna this morning because of high water.

The northbound and southbound lanes of the freeway have been closed because of flooding from a storm system that dumped up to 10 inches of rain on the region.  Traffic is being detoured from Highway 30 to County Road 45 to Highway 14 and then back to I-35.

And MNDOT has a established a new detour for southbound Highway 52 near Pine Island due to flooding on Highway 62 in Zumbro Falls.  Traffic is now being routed west on Highway 60 to Wanamingo, south on Highway 57 to Kasson, east of Highway 14 to Highway 52 in Rochester.  The northbound lanes of Highway 52 may remain closed for up to a week because of damage to a culvert.
