City council member calls planned ad “disgusting”
A giant sign near Target Field is creating friction between the Twins and the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves are putting up a 33-by-87 foot sign on the exterior wall of the nearby Target Center, promoting the Sanford Health company. Twins President Dave St Peter is upset about it, saying it goes against the public art commitment above the right field bleachers. Minneapolis City Council member Lisa Goodman goes so far to say the move is “disgusting.” But Wolves president Chris Wright says it’s all about business, and notes that city officials and the Twins themselves have long touted the business opportunities generated by the new ballpark.
