Father Accused Of Leaving Son In Minivan While He Watched Movie
Dominick Damond Miller has been charged with gross misdemeanor child neglect.
Last Friday evening, employees at the theater and other witnesses noticed a child sitting in the front seat of a minivan which was parked in the theater’s fire lane, according to the charges. The van had been left running.
An employee retrieved the young boy from the minivan and contacted police. A witness said they had seen the boy sitting inside the van at around 7 p.m. When a theater employee noticed and brought the boy inside, it was nearly 9 p.m.
Police arrived and tried to get the boy to tell them who he was. He said his father had gone in to watch a movie “a long time ago” and told him to stay in the minivan.
The boy didn’t know his last name, but said his father’s name was Dominick.
At about 9:30 p.m., police noted Miller standing buy the minivan. They frisked him and noticed that he had urinated on himself. Police said he also smelled strongly of alcohol.
He told police he had been dropped off at the theater by his wife, and that he and his son had watched a movie together.
Miller’s charges carry a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a fine of up to $3,000.
