HELSINKI — Rookie Jeff Skinner scored the only goal of the shootout to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Friday.

The 18-year-old forward also set up Carolina’s first goal from Tuomo Ruutu, which tied the game at 1-1 two minutes into the second period.

The Wild had opened the scoring 17 minutes into the first period on a goal from Andrew Brunette.

It was the second game between the teams in Helsinki, where the Hurricanes won 4-3 on Thursday.

Cam Ward made 41 saves in the Carolina goal, stopping Mikko Koivu, Brent Burns and Antti Miettinen in the shootout to preserve the victory.
