NTSB: Controller Error Led to Near Collision

US Airways jet and cargo plane came within 50 to 100 feet of colliding in skies over MSP.

The NTSB says air traffic controller error cased a near collision between a commercial jet and a cargo plane over Minneapolis last month. The NTSB says on September 16th, a US Airways jet with 95 people aboard came within 50 to 100 feet of colliding with a small cargo plane, shortly after both aircraft took off from MSP. The report says the tower instructed the commercial Airbus 320 to turn left shortly after takeoff, putting it in the path of the Beech 99 cargo plane that had just taken off from a parallel runway.
