Trucker Critical After Aiding Other Drivers
The driver of a tanker truck was critically hurt today in an unusual accident. It happened on Highway 10 in Mounds View shortly before 4 o’clock this morning.
The State Patrol says the tanker swerved to avoid a vehicle at Highway 10 and county road 96 but ended up colliding with that vehicle, and the tanker portion of the truck rolled into oncoming traffic and sideswiped another vehicle. The truck driver then jumped out to check on the condition of the other drivers and was struck in the process. 57 year-old Gary Vanderweyst of Princeton, Minnesota is listed in critical condition.
