Hennepin Co. To Verify General Election Results

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Hennepin County Canvassing Board meets Monday to verify the general election results in Minnesota's most populous county.

The board convenes at 10 a.m. at the Government Center in downtown Minneapolis.

All counties are required to submit verified election results to the Secretary of State within 10 days of the general election.

Hennepin County officials insist their election night vote count is accurate despite a snafu that temporarily inflated the vote totals Tuesday night.

The state canvassing board meets to certify statewide results Nov. 23. Because of Democrat Mark Dayton's narrow lead over Republican Tom Emmer, the governor's race is expected to go to a recount after that.
