86-Year-Old Woman Robbed In Middle Of Day

By Caroline Lowe, WCCO-TV

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- An 86-year-old Edina grandmother was robbed on Nov. 3 in the parking lot of a bank where she withdrew some cash.

It all happened in the middle of the day outside the TCF at 98th Street and Penn Avenue in Bloomington. She was not hurt in the robbery but said it was very traumatic and she has trouble sleeping at night.

Surveillance cameras captured video of the robber, who police say waited for several minutes across the street and watched for the elderly woman to come out of the bank.

She had more than $700 in her purse, along with a couple of money orders. Cameras also captured the suspect's his older-model burgundy car as it took off from the scene.

The victim did not want to be identified because she fears for her safety. But she agreed to share her experience in the hope someone will contact Bloomington Police with information about the robber.

"I just want that guy caught because I'm positive he was so professional, he'll do it again. I bet that's all he does," said the victim.

Bloomington Police Commander Mark Stehlik said robberies like the one with the purse snatching are rare.

Anyone with information should call the Bloomington Police Department at 952-563-8812.
