Dayton, Pawlenty Talk Budget, Other Minn. Issues
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Democrat Mark Dayton says Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty offered him perspective on the state budget, security matters and even a tour of the governor's mansion.
Pawlenty and Dayton met for about an hour Tuesday, a day after the Republican governor met privately with GOP candidate Tom Emmer.
The race between Dayton and Emmer appears headed toward a recount and might not be decided until December or later.
Dayton leads in the race, but said he doesn't presume anything. Dayton says he'll begin working toward building an administration but isn't at the point of offering cabinet posts to anyone.
Dayton says the transition clock is ticking. He plans to meet Wednesday with budget officials from previous administrations.
