Mike Max’s News And Notes

(WCCO) — University of Houston head football coach, Kevin Sumlin, could be attractive as a pick for a Gopher football coach. He turned down Kansas and the word is Colorado might make a run at him. He makes $1.2 million right now. His team is 5-4, but lost its first two quarterbacks.

Don’t believe that Tony Dungy is overly involved in the search. He is offering minimal advice.

Don’t expect Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier to get involved in the Gopher job. But if you are looking for a long shot who’s on current NFL staff and who has college experience, look to Paul Pasqualoni. He is currently with the Dallas Cowboys, but was a head coach at the University of Syracuse.

Brainerd High School star Josh Archibald, who played this fall on the 2010 Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League is the son of former Minnesota Northstar player, Dave Archibald.

Some inside the Wild franchise credit new assistant, Rick Wilson, as the key offseason addition.

Look for Glenn Taylor, who is not heavily involved in the hirings, to strongly evaluate both David Kahn and Kurt Rambis around the first of the year.

And did you know that Gopher Hockey coach, Don Lucia coached gubernatorial candidate, Tom Emmer when he played collegiate hockey at Alaska Fairbanks.
