Is their anyone in the Mpls City Government that can help. The clowns that are there now have done nothing but talk. I’m sorry they do care about their citizens, they want to fine pet owners for not having pet licenses. Way to take a bite out of crime Mpls.

eliminate private gun ownership and the NRA. We are in the 21st Century and hopefully not going back to the 1700’s like one political organization is asking for.

    • Shawanda Sikes

The odds are the person who shot this poor child doesn’t own the gun legally anyway. People kill people, guns don’t. If you eliminate private gun ownership, then the only people who have guns will be the criminals and they would be more than happy to come to your house feeling pretty safe because you can’t have a gun!

    • Mark from MNtaxwaste

@M. from D How about we punish the people who are using the guns to break the law? Or why stop there, how about we take a few more rights away. Read the Constitution and educate yourself. I’m sure if you were being robbed, or a criminal was hurting your family and you had a chance to take him out with a gun you would do it in a heartbeat.

    • Wayne

Lawful gun owners are not going out and randomly shooting people. Please check your facts and look at the statistics. This is a tragic event but taking away a fundamental right of U.S. citizens is a knee jerk reaction and will never solve the problem of illegal gun usage.

    • M. from E

This has to be the most ignorant post ever…

  • Ghandi

@Mark – the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with protecting yourself from being robbed. I suggest YOU read the constitution and then ask someone to explain it to you. Our “rights” are to allow us to form “well organized militias”… not to keep a gun in our homes for intruders, or to walk in parades in Alaska..

    • Jeff

The 2nd amendment states the the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED! Not just people in the militia, not just policemen, not just soldiers, it clearly states the PEOPLE! ALL OF US! The only reference to the militia is that it is is necessary to a free state. SO you need to learn the constitution and how the SCOTUS has ruled this way time after time after time. You are so uneducated it makes me sick.

    • Mark from Mntaxwaste

@Ghandi? Son, yes it does give us that right, you must have went to a public school, sorry

  • Peter

People with guns kill people. That is a fact that you can not dispute.

    • B

So do people with knives, bats, cars, lighters, rope, pillows, bathtubs, golf clubs, hands, rocks etc. People killed people before guns.

Its not the instrument that is the problem. U.K. has outlawed guns and the crimes committed there are just as violent but with knives and fists instead.

    • RJK

so do poeple with knives……..make sure and get rid of those knives now…..than we can move on to forks….

  • Tj Diver

Ghandi, I suggest you read the Constition and have someone explain it to you. The Supreme Court ruled that the 2nd amendment gives us the right to bear and keep arms. “If you give up Freedom for the sake of safety you deserve neither” That is a quote from Benjamin Franklin..

    • Mark from Mntaxwaste

      well said sir

  • Scott

Thousands more people are killed by cars every year than by guns. The “ban guns” logic dictates that we ban cars before anything. And how about medical mistakes? That kills thousands more people than cars do. So let’s ban doctors and nurses. Problem solved! Or not.

  • Compassionate Common Sense Conservative

    While we’re quoting our forefathers…

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes…Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man” – Thomas Jefferson

  • Neil

It’s not the guns. It the crazy, ruthless minorite=ies that need to be rained in. Either community leader s or parents need to stop this insane behavior. We’re gettiing pretty tired of this insanity.

  • Travis

@neil it seems some people relate violence to racial trends, or more simply color of skin, yet ignore social economic prevalence and educational trends. Though few studies can agree on direct causation of urban violence it is clear that risk factors include poverty, lack of education, childhood abuse, and neglect. This being said most studies are careful to point out that their is no direct correlation to race and violence rather only indirect correlations at best. i.e. poverty.

  • KT

Um first of all, its funny how people keep telling Ghandi he doesn’t know what he’s talking about when he is exactly correct. The second amendment gives THE PEOPLE the right to bear arms against a well organized religion. Its meant to give us the right to protect ourselves under a tyrannical government. People shouldn’t speak about things they know nothing about or go to college or even high school government and get an education

  • KT

that was supposed to say militia, not religion

  • Allison

I think it’s sick that you’re turning this into a political debate. I will just say a) thank god this child is all right, b) I hope they catch the bastard, and c) Murderapolis is just one big crime scene.

The issue is that kids are in communities where they are scared of the gangs and scared of the cops. for all we know this was a gang initiation or something like that. bottom line is without education this type of violence will continue. If you want to help spend time creating jobs for these kids so the gang is of no interest to them. Until we realize and understand that all of this is about money and the kids in the streets want some. But even if you did create jobs you would not hire these kids because they come from the gutters.
