'U' Offering Answers On Apple Tree Questions
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A University of Minnesota scientist is at the core of a team building a portal to connect orchard owners and home gardeners to answers on their questions about apple trees.
Emily Hoover, head of the horticultural sciences department at the University of Minnesota, is one of the leaders of the project.
Her team last week announced it has received a $496,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop a comprehensive portal on apple tree varieties and rootstocks for the partnership eXtension.org.
Hoover says the portal will make available a wealth of research information that was not readily accessible to the public, including videos, online courses and searchable databases dealing with growing apple trees.
