New GOP Legislative Leaders Tour Minnesota

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Republicans who will lead the Minnesota Legislature next year have embarked on a statewide tour after naming the heads of a revamped committee structure.

Incoming Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch and House Speaker-designate Kurt Zellers held a Capitol news conference on Wednesday to announce their appointments for a slimmed-down slate of committees.

They are also visiting Rochester, Mankato, Alexandria, Moorhead and Duluth in what's billed as a postelection tour.

Voters picked Republican majorities for both legislative chambers, after 38 years of Democratic control in the Senate and four years in the House. Zellers and Koch are preparing to take over in January.
