MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — AAA is projecting the number of Americans traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday will increase more than 11 percent over last year.
An estimated 42 million travelers will take trips of at least 50 miles from home.

“While Americans remain cautious about budgets many are in a better financial position this Thanksgiving compared to a year ago,” said Minneapolis AAA spokesperson Jennifer Brownlee.
However, even with this year’s increase the number of travelers this Thanksgiving remains almost 30 percent below the peak reached in 2005.
