Stay Back From Plows, MnDOT Warns
By Steve Murphy, NewsRadio 830 WCCO
MnDOT is hoping Minnesotans have learned a lesson from the weekend ice storm about the importance of staying clear of snowplows.
In all, 16 MnDOT trucks were involved in accidents. Spokesman Kevin Walker says it can be downright dangerous to pass a snowplow.
"First of all, it's 20 times larger than a vehicle and ... snow plows drive anywhere from 30 to 50 miles an hour slower than the driving traffic," he said. "Hopefully these first couple of storms will get in the back of our minds, then we'll start to slow down."
