McGREGOR, Minn. (WCCO) — A University of Wisconsin-Stout student is facing felony charges after an alleged drunk driving accident that killed a fellow student.
Police say 24-year-old Michael Dixon, of McGregor, Minn. was hit by Isaac Storandt while crossing the street near campus in Menomonie, Wis.
On Tuesday, Storandt was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle for the incident. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.
Dixon died after a 12-day struggle for his life at Luther Midelfort Hsopital, following the accident, on March 23. He was set to graduate from the university in May.
Dixon’s family issued a statement, saying “we as a family grieve for the loss of Michael as well as the loss of his unfulfilled dreams.”
