LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Freshman forward Chase Grant scored the game-winning goal early in the third period to lift Minnesota State, Mankato to a 3-2 men’s hockey win over Massachusetts-Lowell on Saturday.
Grant scored at 5:48 of the third period and goalie Phil Cook made it stand up for the Mavericks (4-6-4). Cook made 26 saves, 11 each of the first two periods.
The Riverhawks (2-10-2) managed to take just five of their 28 shots in the third period.
Zach Lehrke and Kurt Davis also scored for MSUM and Grant added an assist.
Riley Wetmore scored both Riverhawk goals.
