UNCF An Evening of Stars: Tribute to Chaka Khan
Celebrating its 32nd season, UNCF An Evening of Stars will be broadcast at 10:35 p.m. on Jan. 29, right here on WCCO-TV.
This year’s special will feature a tribute to the great Chaka Khan, who received the UNCF’s Award of Excellence for her successful career and longtime support of education. The award was presented to Khan by music industry legends Stevie Wonder and Quincy Jones during the taping on Sept. 25.
Performers for the evening’s broadcast include Fantasia, Melanie Fiona, Ginuwine, Faith Evans, Angie Stone, Estelle, Wonder and even Miss Chaka Khan herself, plus many more.
Presenters include Shaun Robinson, Mo’Nique, Taraji P. Henson, Nicole Ari Parker, Akon, Glee’s Amber Riley and more.
UNCF– the United Negro College Fund — administers more than 400 scholarship and internship programs to students from low- and moderate-income families.
Khan’s musical career has spanned decades, and has included such memorable performances as “Tell Me Something Good,” her early 1974 hit with her band Rufus, the feminist disco anthem “I’m Every Woman” and the Grammy-winning smash hit “I Feel For You.”
