Bemidji St. Beats Nebraska-Omaha 3-0

BEMIDJI, Minn. (AP) -- Junior goalie Dan Bakala made 12 of his 25 saves in the third period as Bemidji State beat Nebraska-Omaha 3-0 Friday night.

Bemidji State (4-8-1, 3-7-1) got a goal in each period of the contest between Western Collegiate Hockey Association newcomers. Jake Areshenko scored in the first with an extra attacker on the ice. Ian Lowe had a power-play goal in the second. Emil Billberg netted the final goal at 8:32 of the third period.

Each team took 25 shots on goal. But the fourth-ranked Mavericks (9-3-1, 7-2-1) never found the net, despite six power plays. Bemidji took just five shots on goal in the third period.

John Faulkner made 22 saves for Nebraska-Omaha.
