Mike Max’s News And Notes

By Mike Max, WCCO-TV

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Now that the dome is deflated, the Vikings have some new found momentum. They may make a play for partnering with the state to pay for a new home, as opposed to a county or city.

The NFL will work out a deal with the University of Minnesota to decide if there will be a rent payment for the game. The gophers were not charged rent for all the years they played at the Dome.

New Gopher’s football coach Jerry Kill will entertaining recruits this weekend and the stadium will be cleared, which is a big boost to the process.

Denny green is expected on hand this weekend as they honor the 50 greatest Vikings. Fran Tarkenton will be at the Sunday night event, but not at the Monday night game.

Monday night on WCCO radio Mike Max asked him what he thought of the future of Brett Favre.

“I don’t care. I really don’t care and I’m so tired of all this and outside of Minnesota, the world doesn’t care anymore,”said Tarkenton.

Finally, WCCO legendary broadcaster Don Shelby missed out on an accolade. He was slated to be an honorary captain for the Vikings last Sunday before the game was moved to Detroit.
