Dayton Gets Election Certificate In Minn.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Gov.-elect Mark Dayton is officially certified as the winner of the Minnesota governor's race, more than six weeks after the election.

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie signed Dayton's election certificate on Thursday near the Capitol.

The certificate comes after no election lawsuits were filed during a weeklong waiting period after the state canvassing board certified election results showing the Democrat winning the governor's race by 8,770 votes.

Republican Tom Emmer conceded on Dec. 8 after a statewide recount increased Dayton's margin to 9,080 votes.

Dayton will be inaugurated on Jan. 3.
