New Flyer, Union Agree On Crookston Plant Contract

CROOKSTON, Minn. (AP) -- New Flyer Industries Inc. has reached agreement on a new five-year contract with the union representing workers at its Crookston bus-making plant.

Officials of Winnipeg-based New Flyer say members of the Communication Workers of America still need to ratify the agreement during a vote Friday.

Contract terms were not disclosed. But a company news release says union leaders said they would recommend members approve it.

A New Flyer spokeswoman tells the Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald the Crookston plant has about 300 employees -- about two-thirds of them in the CWA bargaining unit.

The plant does final assembly on buses and is a major employer in Crookston. A state union official says New Flyer's St. Cloud plant has as separate contract.
