3 Charged In Robbery, Assault Of 91-Year-Old Woman

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- Two men and a boy have been charged Tuesday in connection to a Dec. 9 incident in St. Paul where a 91-year-old woman was knocked down and dragged by a robber who stole her purse, according to the Ramsey County Attorney.

Ramsey County Attorny Susan Gaertner says 18-year-old Javaunte Johnson, 20-year-old Draveetray Williams and a 15-year-old boy, all from St. Paul, were charged with aiding and abetting first-degree aggravated robbery. Gaertner says prosecutors are seeking to have the boy tried as an adult.

"This was a brutal robbery of a defenseless elderly victim," said Gaertner. "It is sad and outrageous that such a crime would be committed."

According to the criminal complaint, the 15-year-old boy knocked down the elderly woman in a drug store entryway and dragged her out to the sidewalk before grabbing her purse and fleeing. He was allegedly picked up by a truck driven by Williams.

The boy was arrested on Dec. 15 and, according to the complaint, told police that he gave money from the victim's purse to Johnson.
