MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — After another round of snow hits the Twin Cities, many people are wondering where they’re putting it all.

“We are having to do some extraordinary actual removal,” said Mike Kennedy, director of transportation, maintenance and repair for the City of Minneapolis. “(That’s) where we pick it up, put it in the truck and haul it away. Very expensive, very time consuming.”

Kennedy says they are looking for alternative sites because the stock pile dump in Minneapolis is filling up fast. He said they need to find a new place to store the snow that is just a short haul away.

“The less you have to haul, the less distance you have to go, the more efficient and cost effective you can be,” said Kennedy.

Uhmmm… Ask a question and then not even answer it? That’s what I call good “journalism”. And to think, you Courtney got paid for this,,,,Wow.

The less you have to haul, the less distance you have to go, the more efficient and cost effective you can be,” said Kennedy. THAT IS REALLY PROFOUND.
From usual strib reporting, I would have expected the Make and modlel of the dump truck. Courtney, take the rest of the day off, you’ve overworked yourself. Editor, go over to the U of M to visit the journalism school.

The city doesn’t want to reveal the location because private snow removal companies will dump their snow there… It is very expensive to move snow and the private companies don’t want to pay to dump it. They’ll cheat if they think they can get away with it.

What happened to the “Snow Dragon” they were using at the UofM stadium? Can’t they just use that thing?

  • Matt

They actually dump it just west of downtown BELOW Interstate 394

They should use the yards of all the schools they closed this year. I remember they piled it behind Bremer before it was turned into condos.

It’s only frozen rain, dump it in the river…duh
