EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield has been fined $7,500 for a hit on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler on Monday night.

Winfield was notified of the fine Thursday. The play happened in the second quarter when Winfield rushed on a blitz. The 5-foot-9 cornerback went to tackle Cutler, and his helmet hit the quarterback in the chin.

Cutler needed stitches to close the wound, but remained in the game. He threw three touchdown passes in a 40-14 victory over the Vikings that clinched the NFC North title for Chicago.

Winfield has long been known as one of the most physical cornerbacks in the league. But he is rarely fined for hits and considered among the league’s most fundamentally sound tacklers.

For that much money I would have put the helmet in the numbers and tattooed his a$$

then it would have been 50,000 instead of 7500

So, how much was the Bear’s buy fined for giving Favre a concusion? About the same as the idiots from the ain’ts who beat up Favre last year? This is why I say let the Vikes leave — the NFL will NEVER let them win a Super Bowl, no matter HOW GOOD THEY ARE.

  5. Don says:

Is this pro football or what? The hitting is part of the game. The pay is good are they going to cut back on that.
