Fort Snelling Event To Showcase How Fun Winter Is
FORT SNELLING, Minn. (AP) -- A national event designed to introduce novices to snow sports is coming to the Twin Cities area.
Winter Trails Day will be held Jan. 8 at Fort Snelling State Park. That's near the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport.
Park officials and local outdoors organizations will provide free activities that they say will demonstrate how fun winter can be.
Activities will include showshoe demonstrations, geocaching for beginners, hikes and ice fishing. Attendees can also learn about dogsledding, making ice luminaries and keeping warm in the winter.
There will also be a bonfire and hot cocoa.
The event is co-sponsored by REI, a national retailer of outdoor equipment.
