BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) — Bloomington police were called shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday night regarding a 36-year-old man threatening to harm himself.

“We received a call from the residents of the home on the 10600 block of Verdi that one of the other occupants of the home was threatening to harm himself and had taken a gun out and was loading the magazines for the gun,” said Commander Mark Stehlik, of the Bloomington Police Department.

Others in the home were able to leave and a police standoff began.

It ended shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday morning when officers entered the home and found the man dead. It’s presumed he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

There was no history of trouble at the residence.

“There were no calls to the home that I’m aware of,” said Stehlik.

About 30 police officers and other personnel responded to the scene.

Tragedy – seems we have many on the edge whom have had no issues in past. Feel for family and pray I don’t ever lose it one day. Snap and done … not good

    • Heart to Heart

I agree Wally. It is not good. I pray too. Evil comes into life’s in many forms unexpected catching us off guard in vulnerable moments. Unfortunately Evil goes after the best most passionate people cause they have more potential to make a difference in the world for good. Put God first in all things so nothing or no person has that kind of power over you.

Who says this guy didn’t have any history of problems? First of all, it doesn’t say that and second of all the news isn’t going to be accurate – they rarely do any real investigating. Don’t believe everything you read Wally.

  • Dave Seavy

Ir really makes no difference whether he had a history of problems. Obviously something triggered the suicide. It’s such a tragedy, and is something that will devastate those left behind, forever.

    • Jen

Thank you for your comment Dave. He was a kind wonderful person and I will miss him terribly.

  • Greg Laden

Yes, I lived in a third world country for about three years and every half hour or so someone would barricade themselves into their house with a firearm and commit suicide.

  • Billy

    Only selfish cowards commit suicide.

Every days a new day, why would ya wanna commit suicide? you would have to be Mentally ill.
