BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- Bloomington police were called shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday night regarding a 36-year-old man threatening to harm himself.

"We received a call from the residents of the home on the 10600 block of Verdi that one of the other occupants of the home was threatening to harm himself and had taken a gun out and was loading the magazines for the gun," said Commander Mark Stehlik, of the Bloomington Police Department.

Others in the home were able to leave and a police standoff began.

It ended shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday morning when officers entered the home and found the man dead. It's presumed he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

There was no history of trouble at the residence.

"There were no calls to the home that I'm aware of," said Stehlik.

About 30 police officers and other personnel responded to the scene.
