After Latest Postponement, Vikes Fans Lament On Season

By Edgar Linares, NewsRadio 830 WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The postponement of Sunday's Vikings game in Philadelphia is the latest batch of news for the Vikings.

"I just don't think anything has gone right for Vikings," said Mike Blumer, owner of Primetime Sports. "Starting when Favre wasn't in camp, they had to go get him. It's just been one thing after another."

Blumer said the weather is just the latest factor in what's been a disappointing season. This is the third time in one month a Vikings game has been affected by weather conditions.

"The weather… is the weather! I hate the snow just as much as everybody else," said David Nicoletti, as he walked in the skyway. "It's Minnesota, it's what happens. Sometimes the Dome collapses."

Nicoletti added that he didn't see an economic benefit in bulldozing the Metrodome and building a new stadium.

"Target Field has done a lot for the Twins. And for the area that it's in, the Warehouse District. But that's 81 games a year, the Vikings play eight. I just don't see the economic benefit especially since it's going to cost twice as much as target field," said Nicoletti.

Some fans like Bob Johnson have chosen to look past this season and are looking forward to next year.

"They're probably going to lose to Philly, and they'll probably end up losing to Detroit and finish last," said Johnson. "They just need to get a good draft pick and go for a good quarterback. I hope they get a good top four or top five pick."
