Team Moves TwinsFest 2011 To Blaine Sports Center

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Due to ongoing repairs needed at the Metrodome -- and a completion date no sooner than March -- the Minnesota Twins have announced it's moving TwinsFest 2011 to the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn.

The team said the event will still be held on Jan. 28-30, as originally scheduled.

"While it is unfortunate that we cannot hold TwinsFest at the Metrodome, Twins fans will certainly enjoy what we have planned at the National Sports Center," said Dave St. Peter, Twins President in a released statement. "The signature aspects of TwinsFest will remain unchanged with strong player participation, the region's largest sports collectible show and fan interactives with all proceeds benefiting the youth baseball and softball programs of the Twins Community Fund."

"As we look forward to the event, the entire Twins family appreciates the support of the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission and the National Sports Center staff for their collective support and partnership in working to accommodate this significant event on such short notice," he continued.

The move means TwinsFest tickets will be limited, compared to recent years, because of the smaller venue. Fans are encouraged to secure tickets in advance to the event, as it is expected to sell out.

Ticket are available on the team's website, by calling (612) 33-TWINS (89467), at the Target Field Box Office or by visiting a Twins Pro Shop location -- in Roseville, Apple Valley or Minnetonka. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children 14 and under.

More than 60 current, former and future Twins are scheduled to appear at TwinsFest.
