Turtle Lake Man Arrested For Allegedly Shooting Woman

BARRON COUNTY (WCCO) -- A 43-year-old Turtle Lake man was arrested for allegedly shooting a woman Thursday afternoon, according to the Barron County Sheriff's Department.

The Sheriff's Department received a call at 2:11 p.m. from a 19-year-old Cumberland man who stated that Brad Bearheart had took his vehicle from him at gunpoint and fired a shot at him while he was running away. The victim was not injured.

Authorities say that while deputies were responding to the location, which is just south of Turtle Lake, the dispatch center received a call from a 46-year-old woman who said she was just shot by Bearheart. He had left the residence after the shooting.

After a search, Bearheart was found at 3:42 p.m. in his car in a ditch one mile out of Barron County, which is west of Cumberland. Responding agencies were able to talk him out of the car and he was taken into custody.

Once he is medically cleared, Bearheart will be held in the Barron County Jail awaiting formal charges from the Barron County District Attorney's Office on attempted first-degree homicide charges.

The female victim is listed in stable condition.
