MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Junior goalie Dan Bakala stopped 35 shots to lead Bemidji State to a 3-2 win over Ferris State on Friday in the first round of the Dodge Holiday Classic men’s college hockey tournament.
Bakala made a game-high 17 saves in the third period for the Beavers (6-10-1), but allowed both Ferris State goals.
Jordie Johnston scored to pull the Bulldogs within one with 1:01 left to play.
Drew Fisher scored what proved to be the game-winner 2:47 into the third period. Matt Carlson and Jordan George also had goals for Bemidji State.
Taylor Nelson made 19 saves for Ferris State.
Ferris State outshot Bemidji State 37-22.
