Indianapolis Police Seek Leads In QB's Killing

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indianapolis police are asking for help from the public in finding the killer of 20-year-old community college quarterback Dominique Corder.

The sophomore played at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, Minn. Police in his hometown of Indianapolis say he was talking with someone in an SUV early on New Year's Day when someone shot him in the abdomen.

He died at a hospital.

Sgt. Linda Jackson said Sunday that detectives are anxious for leads and says "no tip is too small" to phone in.

Corder led Central Lakes to a 10-2 record this season, ending with a 23-13 loss to Glendale (Ariz.) Community College in the Valley of the Sun Bowl.

He was a National Junior College Athletic Association All-American and MVP of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference.
